Yeah, hehe, spectator safety was a concept still in its infancy then!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif Heck think about where that was being filmed from...the outside of the corner (that was my aunt doing the filming with her "new-fangled" Kodak super 8!!) /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek.gif

Outside of corners always scared the heck out of me even way back when.

I remember watching rally footage from Italy where this little old man choose to watch the race on the outside of a blind turn on a dirt road. He would hobble out to the middle of the road so that he could get a good view around the corner, then hobble back to his place on the side of the road just in time for a car to slide around the corner passing inches from his shins.

I have never met that old man, but I am pretty sure I like him a lot.

my favourite was a clip of the Monte carlo rally in the late 50's/ very early 60's where they pass an old guy on his vespa at the top of a mountain with 6 foot snow banks - so many questions - I think they also pass cyclists too
