1275 Cooper S starter

Hi gang,

Can anyone tell me the best place to order a replacement starter motor for my 1970 Cooper S?

Thanks very much.

If you don't want to spend the money on either the stock or high-torque starter motors and you aren't worried about originality, Google for information on the Isuzu starter swap. By slightly elongating the mounting holes on a certain Isuzu starter you can adapt it to work on the A-series. It's considered a very reliable part.

Before buying any new starter, you started another thread on removing the starter. Have you exhausted the possibility that your existing starter is still serviceable?

Thanks guys.

I ordered a stock replacement starter and it worked just fine.

Interestingly, the British version is slightly different than the Australian version I am replacing. It necessitated my having to re-route the cable, but it wasn't difficult.

I will get the original Australian part rebuilt.

Thanks again -
Rob
