11 stud cylinder head for a 9 stud block

AS the title says, the cyl. head has got 11 stud holes (Longman GT7 - should have shipped with 9), blockk has 9. Other than drilling the block or returning the head is there a way to 'fill in' the extra 2 stud holes?
Can I use JB weld, screws, etc?

thanks,

No need to plug them, just run it as a 9 stud head.

Gesh, I wanted to say that so badly.

Well...It's true that I'm not at young as I once was......

Why wouldn't you drill and tap the extra holes into your block? You spent the dosh on a performance head. Why not take the time to make the additional holes using the new head as the template? I surely would. When the factory developed the 12g940 and 12g1316 heads, they added the holes to be sure the added performance wouldn't blow head gaskets. The Longman head is an even higher performance head than those.

The block is cast iron, it drills beautifully and taping isn't much more difficult.

Gotta agree with ThomP on this one. You wanted a performance cylinder head for a reason....Flat tops? Hot Cam?

Of course you will need a Cooper S type head gasket when you do. I'll be putting all of this to the test when I light this 1340 'S' Engine about April.

I know this is situaction where it's already done, but I'll throw this in. Any of you looking to convert to 11 studs, don't waste your money, it's not needed. In SCCA's F-Production, 11 studs are not allowed, but many have comprssion ratios as high 15.5 to 1, if with the right head gasket and 9 studs can hold down that kind of compression and 1275s not having a history blowing head gaskets when things are prepped properly, why would you want to do it? Total waste of time and money in my opinion on a street car or a race car for that matter.

Hap,
I wasn't planning on the 11 stud head - it was sent by accident. So the question still remains, do I need to do anything with the 2 extra holes or can I ignore them and just use 9 bolts?
