100"S" on ebay

That's a beautiful car. Did you intend to have the listing show up in the US also? Because it's not coming up on the US eBay...
 
Yes, I tried my self and not coming up on US ebaymotors. I'll see how I go with the Aussie ebay and then may list on the US...but i thought who would want a right hand drive car in the US and what about shipping...?

I've driven UK cars in France, Holland, Germany and Italy and not found there to be any great difficulty in driving on the worng side of the road in a car not built for it. If anything, the driving conditions in th US would be easier than on the Continent. And it would add a little to the car's distinctiveness. I suspect that a few potential buyers might be put off but that most wouldn't be that bothered.

Shipping would add to the cost, but it might not be all that bad and most shippers would probably be willing to give a rough estimate to a west coast port.

I thought it looked very nice, and I've driven a friend's 3000 that's been tweaked and done in a similar color scheme.
 
Come to think of it, I suppose RHD Healeys are brought in from across the UK to the US? Just had a read of Original Healey by Anders Clausager - weren't the original 25 or so 100S' that were shipped to the US RHD?

I suspect that they were RHD, and a lot of the other small volume imports probably were too.

Is a thread here on BCF where owners of RHD cars were trying to get together a couple weeks back- so RHD cars do exist in the US in small numbers.

As I said I didn't find having a RHD car on LHD roads at all problematical, though I was probably a little more careful than I would have been otherwise. A topless Healey on the wide open American country roads should have no difficulties. And in town it should be OK too.

FWIW FYI. Cape International here in Old Blighty do 100S conversions with shroud and grille modifications (and others).

I'm sure at least some people would want a right hand drive car, I certainly would have considered buying one. Lot's of cars are left hand drive in the Caribbean, where they drive on the left. As for shipping, I have a friend who comes to the US every couple of years from Australia to buy a conversion van and he has it shipped home, I don't know what that would cost...my point is, you might want the exposure here to get an optimum price. The shipping would be the responsibility of the buyer. Dave
 
If you think about it, there are quite a few RHD vehicles here in the US. My old postal-carrier would stop and talk classic cars with me when I was in the garage. He had an old Porsche that he wanted to restore.
