Knowing the VIN ("Car No." in BMC parlance) won't solve many mysteries, but it's always a good starting point and we could likely discover if the car was originally RHD or later converted from a left-hooker.

By the way, what's the story on what appears to be a blue long-hood 911 shown in one of the pics? If it is a long-hood 911 and you're restoring it and inclined to writing an article about the project, I'd be pleased to have it for another mag I produce, ESSES for the Early 911S Registry. Danke in advance.

Unfortunately I don't think he is going to restore it. I'll try and get some good pics of it for you though.

Well, I'm first and foremost a Healey man, but my automotive interests tend ecumenical. I currently own examples of:

Austin-Healey (100M, '56 BN2 and 2 x '60 Bugeye)
Alfa Romeo ('67 Duetto)
Lotus ('68 Elan)
Porsche ('74 914 2.0)
Aston Martin ('11 V8 Vantage)
Sunbeam (just acquired a '62 Alpine)

Yes, and set a new record price for a first-gen Rx-7, too!

It was an impulse purchase based on low mileage, one owner, outstanding original condition and proximity to where I live. I drove it a bit - but not too much; didn't want to spoil the low-mileage appeal - and while it was a fun car and it was nice to experience a rotary engine - it didn't call to me and I moved it on. I also learned some useful things about BaT auctions and in fact since then I have photographed three cars for friends for BaT auctions and each got a record, or near-record, price.
