This is about the BN6 100-6 cars and probably no different from the others but I would really appreciate info from 100-6 owners and restorers.
I have owned a 1958 100-6 serial 630 for over 40 years. The car has been in storage for the vast majority of that time. Now it is undergoing a total restoration.
There is a small slot or cut or corroded slit on each side of the grille opening approximately where the lower U shaped edging ends on both sides. The hole is about 1mm wide by about 5mm long. It is right against the return bend that the lower stainless trim piece goes over, one on each side of the grille. If it was a clock face it it would be at about 4 and 8.
If it was corrosion I would expect that the area all the way across would show signs of corrosion. Since the car has been stored in the typical garage conditions I would imagine that this may not be corrosion.
So maybe it is a opening for the ends of the lower trim piexe to go in?
Whaddaya think? Built that way or ended up that way? Thanks!
