100-6 serial number Question

Is there a number stamped on the chassis anywhere that matches the aluminium plate on the firewall. The car is a BN4. Thanks Bob

Bob - For the Longbridge, there is a number stamped on the right front shock tower, but it does not agree to the body # stamped on the plate on the firewall.
However this body number on the firewall plate should match the # stamped on
1 - front hood catch latch
2 - on the hood, bracket on drivers side
3 - on the trunk lid, the bracket where the prop is attached
4 - on the inside of each of the 4 pieces of the cockpit moldings

Have fun with your search for your body #

To be more specific it's the lower number stamped on the aluminum plate mounted above the "Austin" plate which has the vin number. My '57 vintage racer has the # 5636 stamped on all the areas Jim mentioned.

Bob - I forgot to note one very important item for you. It is not on the chassis, but it is on the engine. For the Longbridge, the vin # on the firewall plate of BN4L O XXXXX, will have on the engine plate of ICH XXXXX, matching.
check it out

Dougie - thanks for the photo

Thanks for the info. Now I am really confused. With MGs the VIN number stamped on the plate with MG (or Austin in this case) and is the same number stamped on the body-chassis. My neighbor purchased a 100-6 barn find and I thought it would be interesting to see if I could find other numbers on the beast! Thanks again for your assistance. Bob
