100-6 inner door handles

OK, the inner door handle has a ring that goes around a small "cup" that encircles the post from the door handle, which fits over the post that comes out of the door mechanism. There is a channel through the door post that a pin goes through to hold the handle on. To remove the handle, you depress the cup (it sits on a spring) and push the pin out of its channel. If you know what I'm talking about so far, then we're way ahead of the game. My question is HOW DO YOU PUT IT BACK ON!!!! I can't push the cup in and have enough room to get the pin inside the ring and through the little channel that you can't see anyway. It's driving me crazy, I've been at it for two nights (a lot of that time spent finding the 1/2 inch pin every time I drop it). Anybody have any experience with this?

Thanks
Larry

I had the same problem when I replaced my interior door panel and spent several long evenings in the garage getting nowhere. I ended up removing a little of the padding under the leather around the opening in order for the disk to push further into the panel. I then followed a tip from the back of the Moss catalog, measuring 1/2 inch on a nail, cutting halfway thru it, inserting into the hole and snapping it off. It worked like a charm.

OK, I already thinned out the area around the disk, that helped a little, but not enough. But I haven't tried the nail trick - that sounds great!!! I was to the point where I was going to file a groove in the disk to allow the pin more room to go in. I like the nail idea - can't wait to get home to try it!
THANKS
