100-6 distributor questions

My 57 BN4 restoration is progressing. I’m converting to negative ground and a later 6-port head. Originality doesn’t matter but reliability does.

1) I had a Neanderthal moment and was too rough on the distributor base pedestal housing and broke off an ear. Does anybody know a source for a reasonably priced pedestal?

2) My Lucas dm6 distributor sat in a box in a barn for 40 years. I cleaned it out and the bushings all feel solid and tight. I don’t know the condition of the vacuum advance unit. I’m planning on going electric ignition of some variety. Would I be better buying a new Pertronix distributor ($180) or upgrade my original unit with an ignitor kit, cap, rotor and hoping the vacuum is workable. I tend to think I’d save money and make life easier with an entirely new distributor. Are there disadvantages in this route? I could then sell the orig on eBay too.
