100-4 crankshaft nut size?

What is the spanner (wrench) size for the crankshaft nut on a BN2? Can I get it off without taking the engine out (to change the timing cover)?

Any advice for undoing the nut? I guess it's on tight.

Thanks in advance

Mike

On my BN! I think I used a 42mm socket. Its a fine thread with a tab washer so may not be uber tight.

put the car in gear, get an assistant to sit in the car with a foot firmly on the foot pedal and take the socket to the nut.

Should not be too hard.
