Has anyone considered or actually done the unthinkable and done the "inch-up" trick, and fitted larger wheels with low-profile tyres to a Spridget, in my case a Bugeye?
So when upgrading from the standard 13x4 steel wheels with factory correct 145SR13 Michelin SP4 tyres to, say Minilites, instead of the "correct" option of 13x5 wheels and 175x70R13 tyres, fit either:
<ul>[*]14x5 wheels and 185x60R14 tyres (Plus one option)[*]15x5 wheels and 195x50R15 tyres (Plus two option)[/list]
In either case the outside diameter of the wheel and tyre remains almost exactly the same as standard, give or take a tenth of an inch.
Is this sacrilege? Unacceptable? Will I be booted off the forum for eternity?
Would either of these options, or any other similar option, actually work? Would it foul the wheel arch or the mechanicals in some way? I would expect the racing gurus would have done it if anyone... Hap? aeronca65t? ChrisS?
