I watched the Apollo 11 launch in ‘69 when I was in college. About five of us slept on the beach in Florida. Good memories.

I was a junior in college. Had my first apartment ($50/month!), the size of a one car garage. I bought a b/w Sony "Tummy Telly" just to watch the moon landing. Just like this -

I remember watching the descent on the ladder, hearing "One step for a man", then seeing the footprint on the surface. I think that during those hours, just about the whole world was watching.
