I watched the Apollo 11 launch in ‘69 when I was in college. About five of us slept on the beach in Florida. Good memories.

I was a junior in college. Had my first apartment ($50/month!), the size of a one car garage. I bought a b/w Sony "Tummy Telly" just to watch the moon landing. Just like this -

I remember watching the descent on the ladder, hearing "One step for a man", then seeing the footprint on the surface. I think that during those hours, just about the whole world was watching.

I was 12 when Apollo 11 went. My dad made sure that my brothers and I watched the first steps one the moon when it was broadcast. I remember it well. And how fuzzy the picture was. Many years later found out the video itself is very clear and the poor quality was due to the transmission restrictions when sending it back to earth. I have a very clear set of the videos made from the Nasa archives, came from a company called "Spacecraft Films" who unfortunately I gather no longer exists.
