TR2/3/3A Lockheed front brake system

Would anyone have some pictures of a Lockheed front brake system? I forgot to get a picture of the brake-backing plate from behind or one from the front with the shoes and grease catcher removed. I took a lot of pictures but missed these spots. Moreover, when I tried to find a picture anywhere there were none I could find.

The bolting back up for the brake-backing plate is probably straight forward, but I would like a picture to be sure.

Thank you Steve

Let me know if the areas you need are too dark and I'll lighten them up before attaching:

By the way, I've read several posts bagging on the TR2 drum brakes. I found the TR2 drums to be a better feel on the street than that later discs. The discs need to drag to prevent pedal drop, which is not the case with the drums, which roll without drag. They stop straight with less pedal force and no overheating on the street. Maybe the discs do better on the track, but I wouldn't know. I loved them on Texas freeways over 100MPH, though.

John, great pictures thank you for posting them; your paint job looks perfect.

I needed to swap out the trunnions I initially used because I installed some trunnions that had that 3 degree offset and scratched things up a little.

The trunnions came in this package deal I got on some parts. I did not realize at the time that the 3 degrees offset is made by putting the shaft not in a horizontal position, I thought it meant they were tipped out 3 degrees. Live and learn-- yes they are for a tr4. anyways I have it correct now

I could not find any pictures anywhere of a front drum backing plate, probably because the drum brakes were used only in 1956 to 1954 and upgrading to the disc would not be too difficult. In 1957 when Standard Motors went to front disc brakes, my understanding is they were the first company in the world to do that on a production car.

I did hear that Saab might have used disc brakes and front wheel drive very early also, but the import on Saab in the fifties was rare.

There is a place in the UK that will make you a set of Alfin drums for 10" TR2 brakes. Either radial finned or the shark finned, dealer's choice.

They cost a King's ransom of worthg of King's ransoms but my car is going to take me so long to restore, I can probably justify the expense by the time I'm ready for them 🙃
