You live in a vacuum? That must suck......I can't say I would recognize any of those artists.
But I live in a vacuum.
Tips the servers, I'll be here all week.....

Bob,I'm particularly fond of the music they play at my gym. One group in particular has a singer with a deep and hoarse sounding voice that he still is able to project as a whining 4 year old. Totally unique.

Even Mozart and Bach wrote a lot of stuff that no one listens to outside of academic settings - they had clunkers that didn't become popular too.
Have you ever heard, Tower Of Power, NRBQ, The David Bromberg Band, the Joe Eli band live?I’m mostly classic rock and jazz these days, but a few newer artists stick for me. Billie Eilish’s softer tracks are super melodic, and Harry Styles and The 1975 scratch that 70s/80s vibe without being noisy. Olivia Rodrigo’s stuff has real storytelling, more rock than rave to my ears. What really flipped the switch was seeing BLACKPINK live. Tight band, big harmonies, and the crowd energy made the songs click in a way radio never did.
I grabbed last‑minute seats through > Buy BLACKPINK Tickets | Sell Your Tickets | Seatpin < , prices were clear and support replied fast. A good live set can make modern pop make sense.
No, I no longer am impressed with flash choreography, light shows and CELEBRITY.
I enjoy music is a wide variety of genres and time periods. Of course I gravitate to the stuff I grew up with in high school (what we now call classic rock), but looking through my Apple Music library, I see many genres: Adult Contemporary, Alternative, Alternative Rock, Big Band, Blues, Blues-Rock, Classic Rock, Classical, Contemporary Celtic, Country. Folk, Dance, Easy Listening, Gospel, Hip-Hop, Indie Rock, Instrumental, Jazz, Metal, New Age, Oldies, Opera, Patriotic, Polka, Pop, Punk Rock, R&B, Rap (my least favorite), Reggae, Rock, Soft Instrumental, Soft Rock, Swing, and Techno. I enjoy it all and try not to limit myself to just stuff I are up with.I'm so old, Hildegard of Bingen is pop music to me.
What new "pop" music are you guys listening to? Unfortunately what I hear today from car stereos and "rave concerts" seems to be obnoxious loud feedback screeches and people screaming. I just hear noise, something I can't relate to - not the sounds of "music" which I can remember and sing/play again.
What music, and bands, do you listen to today?
Thanks.

On my iPhone I just say “Hey siri, what’s this song?” And Siri tells me the song and artist.Mike - if you hear a tune, but don't know the title, what app will identify the tune if you just play it?
Siri probably could identify that yes. For something that you would install on your archaic antique computer, I have no idea. Sorry I’m sure there’s something out there though, but I just don’t know what it is.But for us Ancients ... what can I use on my laptop to do that? Shazam, etc., all require installation on Androids or iPhones, but not on laptops.
(Would Siri be able to identify, for example, a string quartet by a 19th century composer, or folk music from 20th century Kentucky?
Most of the time if I don't know who was doing what song in a show/movie, I go bring up the name of said show/movie and look at the credits to get who was doing what songs. Then a quick listen to be sure before download. With streaming type shows usually they only have 2-3 songs in a piece and listed in order they were used.Mike - if you hear a tune, but don't know the title, what app will identify the tune if you just play it?
