Me and my Sprite

Long story short, my Sprite started running rough on the way back from a drive. Got worse as we made it home. At this point I have removed the oil pan as whilst reinstalling the distributor drive gear at 10% BTDC, it fell into the oil pan. That turned out to be a good thing. The pan was not sealed properly. After I get it back in I will move on to static timing. Then move forward without problems hopefully.

Thanks for responding and I will keep this thread updated.

BR,

Rhett

More on the trouble. Before I removed the distributor I tried adjusting it as it seemed to be a timing issue. I couldn’t get the engine running properly. This is when I decided to remove the distributor and gear and reinstall at 10 BTDC. I bought a new/ used distributor in great condition so I should be good. FYI, I have a Crane CR700 ignition system. This has been a rolling restoration. The engine has @3500 miles on it. I would like to ask if anyone has encountered the same or similar problem. The drive gear is in near perfect condition and everything looks good underneath. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Is the condenser good? Points adjusted?

Have you looked in the float bowls for fuel line 'crud'? If your fuel filler cap isn't vented it could cause issues as well.
