Hey Read,

Thanks for the explanation.
That's an interesting front suspension & frame too.
are shocks house inside those narrow springs?

Shocks are not shown in that picture (there are a few other suspension components that appear to be off of that one). The shocks would normally ride in front of the "sliding pillar" suspension. The hub/axle rides up and down on a kingpin with a spring above and below the hub.

Although this is an earlier Morgan, the picture is the best I could find of the overall design. Later models (Starting in the 50s I would guess) had a few extra dampening/strengthening/adjusting gizmos:

Okay, back to the tuning. I noticed that my front carb was leaking at the float bowl neck (where it attaches to the carb throat sandwiches between rubber washers). I took it off, inspected the washers and applied a thin layer of silicone sealant to the washers. Reinstalled and no leaks, but now on accel and overrun I am going way lean into the >15 range. Now the ambient temp is lower, I could have an exhaust leak, or maybe they're some crud or silicone in the jet. Car also will try to die on overrun when coming to a stop but idles well. Any thoughts? I do have oil in the dash pots.

Read, I envy you owning such a lovely car!
I have nothing to offer on the tuning question, but enjoyed the photos....a car I have always wanted to own. I have been driven in one round a race track at racing speed, and loved it.

Well I think I figured out the most recent issue. Runs fine choked. Apparently silicone sealant + gasoline = a sticky situation inside the carbs

I used hylomar blue on my H6 float bowl/banjo stud connection.

Have you rebuilt your carbs?
possibly a vacuum leak ?

Carbs are rebuilt very recently. After I cleaned the goop out of them from the silicone gasket maker the car is running great. I ended up shimming the banjo connection with a thin copper washer and it is no longer leaking. I will look into hylomar blue, thanks for the tip!
