I have a beautiful TR-3B (TCF series) and would like to know how many are left. Does anyone know where I can go to get the answer?

Thanks.

Paul

Hey Paul,

Try this link for listings of how many were made:
https://triumphregister.com/

Unfortunately, there is no way to know how many survived. For every one on the road, there are likely several sitting in garages and back yards...waiting to be restored or parted out.

And for every one on the lists there are numerous others on the road or ? A lot of TR Owners are free spirits and NOT PRONE to joining clubs or posting info on lists.
Being a previous owner of a TCF 3B ( my son now has the car and yes it is driven often) I watched for the 3B's over the last 25+years. I believe there are likely a higher percentage of them still existing than the earlier TR3's.

I think I read something where there were just over 9K "3's" left - this includes the 3, 3A and 3B...but as others have posted, narrowing it down is not an exact science. I know I have one...all I worry about :-D

I've seen several for sale over the last few years so not that rare. The one I have is 100th from the last. One of the 200 black on black cars.

A Dutch gentleman living in Germany (some of you probably know him) has been collecting TR3B data for a few years now. He has details on over 550 TR3Bs, as of last week. That's about 17% of the 3300 or so built. (Note that the last few dozen TSF-cars were used for Italia production.)

Figure that Gert's inventory is incomplete, and it seems reasonable that there are 1000+ TR3Bs out there. If the number were 1500 I wouldn't be completely surprised.

I agree with previous comments that the survival rate has been especially high for TR3Bs. Probably due to their being the last of the sidescreens, and people starting to appreciate them for that before they were lost. (I wouldn't say it was because they were built to a higher standard!)

Bunch if restoration projects on Craigslist in Chicago.

Inadvertently? Seems like moderators could at least reinstate you status and history? Your long term input and experience has been important. Tom

Sounds reasonable. When trying to count hummingbirds in the field the rule of thumb is to count how may you can see at one time and then double it.
