Well, lets see if another browser has an issue.

I'll edit this line and see what happens.

Found out it appears to be IE-11! No hitches here. I guess some changes are in order. :encouragement: PJ

And now they want us to install W-10! They must be kidding! :nonono:

I keep telling you. Nobody listens.

Billy has 24 bathrooms in his house...and they want you to buy the latest OS to keep TP in those bathrooms.

Not on yer life.

I use IE8 still for some functions, but everything else is FireFox and has been for years.

I use an iMac.

And I don't. Several reasons..the printable ones are WAY too expensive, WAY too many programs didn't work or the version that will is...WAY too expensive.
Breakdowns are WAY too expensive.

I need to learn another operating system and programs......not.
I get familiar and used to XP and they change it...so I'm set with something I am familiar and comfortable with...and it's free.
The new box is super fast, going to be fun to play with. And it was...free.
Last thing I bought was the laptop...and I hate it...and it was what hundred and a half? We use it for road trips....period.
I know we could get a virtual OS on 7, if I could figure out how to do that on 8, it would right...freaking..now have Virtual XP on it.

I know folks who have Macs...some like them, some swear at them (continuously)....seems like my impression is they have had more OS changes than MS has.

YEP: and becauseI E is ancient today get Fire Fox and you will be happy Id say.

So......... the big question for me (in finally dropping IE) is whether to go with Firefox or Chrome. Thoughts?

FireFox or Opera! I would not touch Chrome ( But to be honest its because I don't like Google for reasons I'll not expound on here)

Thanks!

Opera is a nice browser, but, and it's only my opinion, FireFox is more user friendly. I don't use Google or anything associated with it either! PJ

I use Opera and Firefox both and like them both.

FireFox probably a bit more full-featured than Opera and FF has tons of add-on plugins you can use.
Ghostery.
AdBlockPlus.
google blockers.
User Agent Switcher.
I use a lot of them, plus Fluff Busting Purity for FacePlant.

I don't use any of the add-ons, so I don't notice a huge difference in features.

You don't, eh?
AdBlockPlus and Ghostery anymore are a must.
If you peruse FacePlant, Fluff Busting Purity (FB Purity) for me is a must. I can't stand all the add-on Zook BS.

It's all about how many ads they can cram down your throat.
Why do you think MicroSlime is forcing new OS on us that you can't turn off updates?
So they can cram the latest stuff on you after they have tracked your usage and know what ads to target you with.

Why do you think the big push has been out there to kill XP?
I've run without any updates for years because I don't trust them.

It's fear mongering on their part. "No Longer Supported!"

Yeah.
Right.

wow - do I ever feel out of the loop.

FacePlant, Fluff Busting Purity, Zook, User Agent Switcher

I've never even heard of them.

<insert "feeling ancient and way over the hill" smiley here>

FacePlant=FaceBook.
Zook=Zuckerberg (or whatever his real name is)
FBP=a very good BHO to kill 100% of faceplant ads, tracking, chat, all the BS they add on to it.
User Agent Switcher....allows you to tell websites what OS and browser you are using. Mine is set to 7, 64 bit, and FF25, altho we know I ain't using any of the above.
Keeps websites from locking me out unless I update my OS and browser (yes, happens frequently...and you could call it a "conspiracy" with MS trying to kill off older OS and browsers)
You are out of the loop.
Trust me.

This is on 8..and 10 is admitted by MicroSlime to collect MORE DATA:

"Microsoft isn't trying to steal your data or somehow use your identity for illegal purposes. It isn’t. At this point, Microsoft mostly wants to identify your buying patterns and your interests, so it can serve you ads that you will click, for products that you will buy. That’s where the money is.

Although Google freely admits that it scans your inbound and outbound Gmail e-mail, all the better to generate ads that you will click, Microsoft (as of mid-2013, anyway) insists that it doesn’t — ergo, the infamous Scroogled ads, where in the pot and kettle somehow tie it on. Don’t be fooled.
Microsoft does scan Hotmail/Outlook.com mail and tiled Mail app messages that you receive with Windows 8.1 — for spam detection, if nothing else. Whether MS will start keeping track of detailed information about your messages in the future is very hard to say."

You have been warned.

Didn't know about FB apps for taking control back from Zuckerberg. Great. I shall thankfully get that started!

I see that the FB Fluffify thing requires I dump IE11. Guess it's time. :rolleye:
