New Car

No, I meant go drive a 6 cylinder Z.
Billy, the car will not be for me. It will be my wife's and the cost and the gas mileage is more important to her than the power.
If it was mine I'd get the Z8
Found a nice specimen in Knoxville, but by the time we will pull the trigger it will probably be gone .

Well, if you get it, come to Townsend while you're in the neighborhood!

Mick, Do you get to Knoxville much?
When we do pull the trigger and that car is still around I would like someone just to look over the body so I don't waste a trip

We don't, but it's a short drive. Let me know if I can help.

"preciate it.With all the labor doings here in Chucktown my wife is working 70-75 hrs a week and we have guest this week end so the earliest would be weekend of the 25th.
Doubt it would be available by then but if it is I'll owe you and Janet dinner

Don, is it on a lot? Call them if it is, explain the situation and get them to bring the car to you.

I've heard Z8s have frame cracking issues.

Don - what makes your wife prefer the Z4, compared to similar cars?

Tom-Only similar car is the Miata and the SLK.

Billy, we decided to buy a low mileage one,2014 with less than 10K
With BMW they add 2 years to their warranty with a certified car.
I won't buy a car without looking at it and I doubt they would bring it here for a look see and then dicker on the price

Greg- With all that power I'd probably crack the frame too :encouragement:

A lot of dealers will bring you cars if you ask.

I'm confused, you bought a low mileage what? I thought you didn't look at it?

Haven't bought anything...that's what we are looking for

Can't imagine a dealer from Knoxville Tn would bring a car here
Though I did see one dealer from Tx that would

A pal has an '03 Z8 and took it to track days often for the first few years. He stopped that about five years ago but still drives it daily. No frame issues. Cost of maintaining it is a whole different thing.

He called me before he bought it, asked me if it was a good idea... can you guess what my response was? Aside from the giggling at the idea I'd try dissuading him, of course.

OK - so your wife's choice is Z4, Miata, or M-B SLK?

And you're passing up the Miata because the new model won't be released until August?

Tom- We might have to do this deal earlier as the son might need a car sooner than we hoped and originally the Miata was talking spring and have pushed it back to August at the earliest.
And it's not really her choice it's what is available with a 4 cyl. hardtop 2 seater.
The Audi is available but can't remember why we checked that off.
She actually always likes the TT

Don - If you want, PM me your email address, and I can send a ConsumerReports review of the 2015 Z4, SLK, and Miata.

Hey - congrats on your wife's new wheels!

You have to fly to pick it up??? Where the heck is it?
