Out west here... On Monday night on the way to a downtown event, spotted this old school VW Beetle... With that desirable canvas top...

And then on the way home, a rather interesting Chrysler/Dodge Intrepid, you make up your own mind... Just check out that wing on the back... :highly_amused:

Oh to have that VW. As if I needed another old car ...

Never cared for those rear wings. Once saw one on an old VW Beetle. I asked a VW mechanic what purpose it serves. "Well, it probably added $200 to the seller's pocket, but it can be useful in keeping road traction when going over 120 mph."

I like the crusty old VW. The Dodge, not so much; I do like the sporty orange wheels though.

That Type 1 VW is an oval-window model; made from around '53 to '57.

Pretty rare these days!

The Intrepid, with its painted wheels and wing looks like owner doesn't really take it seriously. Maybe just a self-parody goofball car.

The Intrepid is definitely a bit of a joke car, but at least the owner probably had fun putting it together, that's all that counts... And I doubt much money was paid to acquire the rear wing... :wink-new:

are you implying the original owner is still looking for it? :D

seriously saw a similarly patinaed 23 window VW van today - lovely, and a few funky cars through the week including a bright orange AMX that was gorgeous except it sat about three inches too high.
