MGB-GT Rebuilding the seats

Finally got back to the GT seats. The passenger seat is done and bolted down with new hardware. Certainly good enough for the job at hand. Much more comfy than the old collapsed one.
As for the (cracked) driver's seat base frame, I took it to my local muffler shop. They're one of the few left that can still fix things, so for $20 they welded it up. Not the prettiest job, but functional enough. I got the frame sanded down last night. If it's warm enough when I get home I'll get some paint on it so I can get it finished.
Have a club drive on Saturday, would really like to have the seat for it. For now I've been using one of Penny's seats, just dropped in there (no bolts). Serviceable for the time being, but not a permanent solution.

The seats are done!
Got the driver's frame painted this weekend, and last night I wrestled it back together and back into the car. Was a bear to get into the car -- when the frame was welded back up I think it got out of alignment a little. The seat sliders required some coaxing to get bolted in, but in the end I got it done. It's not the easiest to slide back and forth, but as I'm the only driver it'll do. The next owner may want to replace that bottom frame, but that's for them to worry about.
Nice to have it all back together. Got a couple more small projects to tackle over the next few weeks (clutch hose, rewire the fuel pump, fix the intermittent overdrive switch) and it'll be ready for the season.

Whichever masochistic mechanical megalomaniacal moron designed those rubber diaphragms deserves a stern talking to.
Mine actually has the straps - will see if they are easier.

I am very happy the job is done, for sure! Just wasn't all that fun to do. :grin:
I do like the GT, but I don't think it will be a long term keeper for me. Nice enough (and this one does run really well) but ultimately it's not really what I want to play with. Still, it's fun for the time being while I'm working on the Bugeye.
