what's up with this "Power Big Meet" thing and Swedes embracing southern American culture? I just got wind of this and it blows my mind.

swedes have always been big into american power, I had a friend who was building a '29 ford hot rod and he got a Chrysler hemi drag motor for it,stripped all the performance mods off it and sold them to someone in Sweden for what the motor cost him so basically got the motor for nothing

A couple years ago I was at my fave independent parts house, a couple came in looking for 1967 Pontiac Bonneville parts... this place is a real Ma-n-Pa parts biz, in a rural, small population area. The proprietor didn't use a computer until 2009, just catalogs and experience! The couple were from Sweden, scouring the southeast for parts for the Bonnie they have back home. They were showing us photos of the car (convertible) like proud parents!

The Swedes are pretty aggressive when it comes to modifying cars. Here's an MGB example with a 12 cyl Jag in it! Talk about a sleeper! PJ

Yeah, the swede's Love their big American iron.

This big bad boy belongs to a big bad (but very nice) Swede named Johann. He and his ride were invited to the US for the SEMA show in Vegas.

I had a neighbor a while back who worked in parts distribution for SAAB Aircraft. She said the Swedish engineers would come over a couple times a year for meetings. But they'd work real hard to minimize their time in the office so they could spend most of their time over here looking for parts for their old American cars.

I can't explain it. But it is a real thing. Maybe it's from a genetic link between Vikings and rednecks.

When I visited my buddy in Sweden a few years back we were picked up at the train station by him and his pal, Thor. Although Thor's 4-wheeled tastes leaned toward big Benz's (and his wife was German), Thor rode a Harley and collected American jukeboxes.

The two of them bemoaned the poor quality and Asian manufacture of the US flags that were available in Sweden. So I made sure to ship them a couple of big, beautiful Flags from Annin.

Good grief, Viking Rednecks! :eeek: At first I thought it was just regular folks playing around but from what little I've read these seem to be onna fringe and redneck Vikings indeed. I thought perhaps I could be their king but more likely I'd be sacrificed to their version of Honey Booboo instead...

When I worked for the Superformance dealer, we sold several cars to folks in Sweden. I remember taking a call one day from a guy in Sweden about the 460CID Cobra build we were doing for him. He was at a track, and all I could hear was big-blocks roaring by in the background.

Car Crazy did an episode or two in Sweden - amazing - some very cool Volvos too IIRC. Actually I am on another board and there is a lot of Volvo restoration customization going on - amazing.
