Brace yourselves

I saw the "Brace Yourselves!" and immediately thought of the USAF crew chief who shouted that back to us sitting in fold down seats along the sides of a C-141 just before

Just before ... ???

Inquiring minds want to know!

That's the last the CVR recorded.
Very carefully transcribed for your edification.

"May I die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle. Not screaming in terror like his passengers."

Logged many hours in those seats. Never had an issue in 141's... a UH-1, well, that's another story all together. And th' comm chatter was more along the line: "WTF?!?!"

Oh, like the flaps.....crew runs the flaps out, lands, taxies in...fails to retract...and shuts down.
Next crew fires up, cannot retract flaps.
BTDT. In my USN Whites, on a HUGE ladder when the TWA mechanic at McGuire couldn't figure it out...got the reset override pushed and it worked...then off to Norton.

YOU may not have had a problem with 141's, but read the list. The 1973 in Torrejon, Madrid...about the time I was flying through. The list indicates why there was not a lot of taxpayer dollars spent on scrapping 141's.

Me too! Spent a week in a 141 one day! What fun!

Took a C141 to VietNam. The one we were supposed to fly on burned at McChord the afternoon we were to go. I sat in the last row facing all the duffle bags. Nice trip.

Holy crap I just checked out the link TOC posted. 7 Sept 1966 was the day we left. We took off with the hulk still smoldering on the Tarmac. I was with the 4th Infantry Division.

It's so cold here, none of the planes I see in the sky have moved since last night. The poor doggie does the cold paws dance when I let him out. He's all about getting done and coming back in. We were well into the negatives yesterday and last night. Gonna have a tropical heat wave today! up to almost 30f!!!! It seems the older I get, the stronger my compass points South.

I'm thinkin' the same.

We had no net access a couple of days ago so I went around back to look at the satellite dish. It was packed with snow so I needed to clear it out. I needed snowshoes to get to it & cleaned it out with a broom. To put that into perspective, the dish is on the roof of the garage.

yep - heading south might be the way to go these days.

(Actually, if I could afford it, I might spend winters down south somewhere, but I'd sure scoot back here for the other nine months. Heat and/or humidity aren't my cuppa tea.)

Wow - almost too cold to look for old chrome door handles!

:jester:

As I sit here it is -8F with a wind chill of -32F. If it gets any colder I might have to close some windows and put on a long sleeved shirt. No snow, just cold.

I think the brass monkey just lost them
