TR2/3/3A 155/15 Vredestein Sprint Classic on a 4.5" Wire Wheel as TR3B Spare?

Setting up the spare tire on my TR3B.

The car has 60 spoke 4.5" wide wire wheels with 185/70 Vredestein tires. I need a spare tire that mounts on the 4.5" wide wheel and fits in the spare tire boot. Will a 155/15 Vredestein Sprint Classic mount on the 4.5" wheel and fit in the spare tire boot?

Thanks.

Tire should work but not sure if the wheel will fit. Suggest you try to slide the wheel in first w/o tire. If it will go, the mounted tire should go as well. You may need to use the 48 spoke 4" rim.

May I suggest that you simply purchase a "donut" or smaller spare that will suffice until you get the failed tire repaired. Works for me.

Thanks. The 4.5" wide wire wheel came with the car so I'd like to use it. I can look into a donut spare sized tire to mount on the wire wheel.

Might work on 4 lug wheels but not (to my knowledge) on a splined hub.Tom

Any of the cars post 60K should be able to take a 165/15. That's what I'm using on a 4 1/2" wire wheel. It goes in and out easy enough with 40-50psi in the tire. A 155/15 should fit all the TR3s. The wire wheel will fit with no problem...the trick is to put it in "upside down", so the the outside on the wheel is facing down. There is a depression in the bottom of well to accommodate the extended hub on the wire wheel.

Hey Tom,
As a spare, I have a smaller Continental with inner tube mounted on an original wire wheel. Tested ok.
I can let you know the size, but I will have to wake the sleeping car.
What was the problem that you found?
Steve
