TR2/3/3A Bonnet Fastner Assembly

Afternoon, I'm sitting here looking at three parts with which I'm supposed to fasten the hood to the fastner bracket and can't figure how this is going to work. Actually I have 6 parts (2sets). Am I supposed to tap it with a hammer to mke it all work together? The parts I'm referring to are numbers 552971,72 and 73. I think that I heared some mention that I was supposed to force the actual dzus post into the al part to make it work??????
Anyhow your thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated

Dick, Looks like maybe marv got you sorted out, but if you need the diagram and instructions I think I have them somewhere. Basically you put the aluminum piece in from the top, you use a large counter sunk screw/bolt from the bottom, with a couple of flat washers and a nut on top, then tighten to spread the alum piece out on the bottom. You will probably have to file the hole a little to get the dsuz part through. If you need the instructions I can probably take a photo of them and email it to you.

I like the way Kleykamp is talking about doing the inner ring. Might be better than the way I do it with the C clamp.
You can probably see what you are doing as you go.

I got an Allen head fine thread (tapered head) bolt and nut from ACE. I didn't like twisting a huge flat head screwdriver atop my fresh paint.

At one point not to long ago TRF ( I believe) offered a bolt and nut arrangement for use for this. That was a great improvement from the original method which was to use two ball pin hammers to spread the aluminum collar. I actually did it once that way. Wow what a nerve wracking process on top of a clean and freshly painted hood. No way I would ever do it again that way.

Thanks to all of you for your input. I, most likely would have tried to do it the wrong way and end up with a do-over or a bunged up bonnet.
Charley , I have the correct kit on the way to me from the TRF folks.

I followed some tips I picked up on this forum,no hammer involved.I used a countersunk hex bolt,I think 7/16,maybe 3/8 ,I forget, for the first step.I also used another tip to substitute the retaing washer with an o-ring.No rattles but best of all easy to remove to sight in the holes and wire when positioning and adjusting the dusz mounts.

Mornin Kevin, no, I don't have the kit number. One of the fellows at TRF said "Oh we have a kit, I will send it to you". As soon as it gets here I will have a number and will be happy to pass it along. Don't even know what the cost is, sheesh, talk about faith in a supplier. Anyhow I'll post it when I know.
Course you can call them if you need the info right away.
