Ever have weird, yet vivid dreams?

Had one last night. From what I remember, we were at a family gathering. Lots of relatives from both sides (mine and wives). Even my departed mother was there. I don't remember who's house we were at, but it seemed familiar somehow.

At one point, we were out in the back yard and there was a comet that appeared to be traversing the sky near the moon. Apparently, the Earth was passing through the tail of the comet because the night sky was popping with meteorites which were so numerous that it gave the appearance of sparklers going off in the sky. Now, whether passing through the tail of a comet would cause this effect I don't know, but hey it's my dream, ok!

At some point in the dream I was in the shower and trying to wash off some sort of green slime that was oozing from my pores. The more I washed, the more the slime would come out of my skin. What this had to do with anything, I have no idea.

The last thing I remembers was, we all were outside again, only this time, the moon had been pulled close to the Earth by the effect of comet such that half the moon seemed to fill an entire horizon. I tried to take a picture of this phenomenon, but my camera would not work (figures). This was causing much destruction and there were Earthquakes and floods and I remember a giant mud slide washing down the street, killing everyone in it's path. At this point I was running for my life, trying to escape the mud!

Then, as I was running, someone was telling me to open the door! Open the door? Yes, open the door! The cat wanted out of the bedroom and my wife was shaking me telling me to open the door and let the cat out. That part was real. I woke up to my wife telling me to let the cat out of the bedroom!

Don't take the brown acid.

You drinking at doc's place?

It means you're gonna croak soon, put on your jogging suit and Nikes but make sure to leave me the Jag first. :jester:

I have a lot of dreams that I usually recall. Some are completely nonsensical, some are the adult version of going to school in your pajama...showing up at a gig without my instrument or black suit. Another music related one is I'm having a completely unrelated dream, when suddenly the thought pops in my head "You're supposed to be at a gig right now". I start freaking out, because how am I supposed to get from the beaches in Tahiti back to the D.C. area in an hour.

Another one that used to haunt me for a long time: A tornado is bearing down upon me, and I try to call out a warning to everyone around me, but no words come out of my mouth. Then, a funny thing happened, I started working in dispatch for the police department that I volunteer with. The next time I had the dream, I got on the phone, called 9-1-1 and gave the dispatcher the location and bearing of the tornado. I guess the term "you fall back on your training" comes into play within your subconscious, too.

Sometime thereafter, I actually came face to face with a waterspout crossing the Chesapeake Bay and heading towards a venue where I was setting up to perform, I didn't have to call it in, but I did help the staff of the venue evacuate their guests to a safe place.

I have extremely vivid dreams of my past dogs coming back to visit. So real, I can even feel their fur. Then when I wake up, they're gone.

One of my side projects has been doing historical research on a Capital Airlines DC-3 that crashed in Clarksburg (the next town over from where I live) back in 1957. I had done extensive research on all three crewmembers, in one case finding details about his World War II service that was completely unknown to the family. One night, I had a dream where I found myself in the offices of Capital Airlines. A gentleman walked up to me. I recognized him as one of the crew members.

"You're Cohen?" he asked.
"Yes" I replied
He looked me up and down, extended his hand and said "Thank You."

He then walked down the hall until he got to a room on his left which had a very bright light. Right before he walked into the room, I called out to him.

"Andy", I said.
He turned to look at me.
"Thank YOU", I said. He just nodded his head and walked through the door with the bright light.

I'm not a believer in the supernatural...but sometimes I find things that in my subconsciousness that seem hard to explain logically.

Wow!

Just an aside - I was born in Clarksburg, but the one in West Virginia.

The weirdest dream I can recall had me driving down some street and spotting a grand piano in someone's driveway. I stopped to investigate and a lady came out of the house to greet me. It was Phyllis Diller. Next thing I know, I was in a swimming pool, swimming with - yes, you guessed it, Phyllis Diller. Freud would have a field day with that one!

Well if the guy shows p again and tells you something you currently don't know but proves to be true you may want to reconsider.

Weirdest I ever had was dreaming I was being crushed by a gorilla giving me a bear hug (!) and waking up standing up against the wall in my room with my pillow case pulled over my head and down to my waist restricting my arm movements.

I don't have dreams that I can remember (I know we all dream).

Sounds like I'm missing out!

For years I hadn't remembered any dreams; then over the last year or so they've cropped up. Only aware of fragments of them - some pretty strange, though I can't remember after a few hours.

Yes, some memorable, most bits and pieces. Best is when I doze, sometimes I can watch them. I find myself resisting both sleep and awake trying to stay in dream land, however weird it may be.

In a couple weeks you should be able to see that for real. Dec 13-14 we pass through the Geminid shower.

So, of course, after this post, I went to sleep and had an evening full of vivid dreams:

Dream #1: I arrive at a gig site, but I have to mop the floors before I can set up the gear (No, musicians don't mop floors)

Dream #2: I'm trying to teach my daughter to drive, but she doesn't like it and drives back to the house

Dream #3: I'm visiting my ex-bandmate, who is now a car guy in Arizona, and he has a 1976 Vega Kammback Panel Wagon in his driveway. He keeps calling it a 1969 Vega. I point out to him that the first year of the Vega was 1971, and show that the build date on the car is 09/75. We also find a panel that has the original owners info on it, and I think it would be neat to see if I can find them. I find myself blown away at how roomy the Vega's interior is (which, in the dream, is far bigger than reality)

Dream #4: I am playing the lead, Danny Zukow, in the musical Grease. Now, how a 47 year old ends up playing a high school senior is beyond me. The actress playing Sandy is this tall blonde Amazon, so tall, that when my 5' 6" self is standing next to her, my head only comes up to her....well you get the picture. :encouragement:

And I wonder why I sometimes wake up exhausted!

I don't remember most dreams and when I do, like Mickey, it's only pieces.

1. They say the closer you wake up to dreaming the better you remember them.

2. Any thoughts of a Vega while sleeping is considered a nightmare.

3. Not dreaming and waking up exhausted are signs of sleep apnea.

4. Party at Steve's place, he has the good stuff. :jester:
