Veterans Day at the New England Air Museum. We offered free admission to active military and all veterans. Had live radio/tv setup for interviews, active and retired military talking and showing our aircraft to visitors. Watching kids climb up inside an F100 cockpit, or Huey, or B29 - excellent.

Also, took visitors out to show them our P51, CBY, and DC3 under restoration.

I sat in front of the TV from 9 in the morning until 11 at night watching the history channel on Vietnam, WWII, and the biographies of Hitler, Stalin and Mussolini. Interesting note is in WWI, a British soldier had Hitler dead in his sights, but it seems because Hitler was unarmed, he didn't shoot! Had he of known the outcome in later years, I'm sure he would have emptied the clip. One bullet could have saved millions and changed the course of history. It's a shame but, Hitler was one lucky SOB! PJ
 
I pulled out an old photo of my dad meeting his brother in France on V-J Day; both were in the Army at the time. And right over my desk is a photo of my dad in his Eisenhower jacket (Army, 3rd Division)

Funny. I wore an uncle's Air Force Ike jacket going through high school.
 
I was issued an Ike jacket uniform when I joined the Army but also one of the new green uniforms, brown boots but black shoes. It was during the transition from the brown boot army to the black boot army. That was many moons ago.
 
Helped out hauling supplies for the concession stand at the Veteran's pow-wow over in Apache.
 
For the first time in well over a decade I missed the local Vets park ceremonies. Had to sit on my hands at th' hovel waiting for a Verizon tech to show up to replace the fiber-optic cable severed by a low-wage ditch digger the day before.

Wasn't happy on a couple different levels over it, too. :madder:
 
I thought of my fathers brother, Jimmy Twedt. His medal comes out from time to time. I brought his name up once and "he was my buddy" ended the conversation forever.
