Orange white and blue...and hard to tell with fading whether it's red or orange...but that's it.errr ... Orange Free State flag wasn't red white and blue ...
Funny.
In my family we often refer to Éire (Ireland) as "The Free State" (which was its old name back in the 30s).
"Orange" was associated with the people on our northern border. My family (McCabes) are from Cavan which is part of Ulster. Ulster is a region that is split between Northern Ireland and Éire.
I have family in both Northern Ireland and Éire....some are "Orange" and some from "The Free State".
In 1956 my father nearly moved us from Ireland to South Africa. He had all the immigration paperwork done. At the last minute, Mom convinced him to move to Canada instead (and then, eventually, the US).
Fun reading about that flag!
