O.K, I decided maybe I'm looking at this thing the wrong way. While it does suck that I can't own the midget anymore or anything similar, I have decided to go ahead and buy what I've been wanting, a BMW 3 series. What I'd like is maybe a former race car (full cage) or a track day street car that is still in good shape with a/c. I'd even consider a wagon or another non BMW car as long as it has a full cage. Budget it b/w 6-9K (9 would have to be *the* right car.)

I'm open to whatever suggestions you may have. Extra bonus points for something classy I can drive to upscale functions.

NOTE: It does NOT have to be fast. I want something cool and safe.

The 91 318is is known as "the poor man's M3". Mine is up for sale. We've owned it almost 10 years, and we just don't use it that much. Elva164 is right, that M42 engine revvs to the moon, and once you hit about 3200 rpm it wakes up almost like it had a turbo. That little car flat out scoots in the highway.
All that said, an E30 is a tiny car compared to most of what's on the road today. Unless it's caged I don't think you'd want one. Be looking for at least an E36

The ONLY Bad Motor Works vehicle I would even consider is the first link I posted.
You DO know why they all have soft tops, right?

That's an extremely nice car, but I think they're smoking something asking $6500 for a 93 Volvo wagon.

Agreed on both counts. Ebay showing sales both above and below that price.

I think I lost my mind, I'm seriously considering a Lincoln Mark VIII. ool looking interior and Mustang Cobra engine. They're pretty cheap too.

I found the perfect car Billy. It would fit in nicely where you live and has a cage.

Man, there I absolutely nothing around here. I too was curious about what he meant but dare not ask.
