Refinishing Motolita Steering Wheel

Attached is photos of my steering wheel that I just completed. I wanted to "match" the steering wheel color to the New dash I installed. New wheel is walnut, then stained dk walnut after sanding with 220 and then finishing up with 320 sandpaper. I tried the two-part epoxy and it didn't work. I used the poly spray in the can and it worked great. I also used a friends motorized rotating jig he made just for the purpose of doing steering wheels. While rotating I did a steady spray for two full turns on each "inside" of the wheel and then for the final spray I did the outside edge of the wheel. I did this coating three times with minimum 24hr drying between the coatings and light 320 sanding. Final finish is color sanding and extra fine rubbing compound.
