Knox is working on my grille, I asked if they could send me pics as they make progress.
First is just after I painted it, then just before I sent it in and then the pics they sent of it after stripping.
I'll update as they send more.

Sorry I guess my post wasn't clear.
Knox is a place that strips, repairs and chromes parts that you send in.
I had painted it black, then it got ugly from use on the road.
I sent it to Knox to have it chromed.

Thanks for the update rick! I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out. I need to have mine done this year as well
regards

Rick from the look of your paint and that old grill I'm guessing you drive some gravel or drive one heck of a lot. Or both!
Hope the NW is treating you well!

Kurt.

No, never on gravel.
However they do tend to spread a lot of grit on the roads over the winter and I do drive it a lot more than what might be considered "normal".
:highly_amused:

Kathy emailed me to say she will send more pictures in the coming week.
Yes, so far I'm happy I sent it to them.

I was very pleased with their work as well and I know I'll find something else to chrome!

Kathy called to say whoever is doing the work says it's a lot more pitted than expected.
It's going to cost more to get it done perfectly, up to an additional $100.
It's very good they called but I do want it to be right, I know it's going to be the only perfect part of my car but it's the shiny bit on the front.

Extra $100.... mind if I ask what the original quote was?

They sent me an update and a new picture today:

"It's been acid copper plated once already. It's been a slow process, but it will be worth it!"

Nice. Looks neat in copper.

I just got the call, it's finished and they will ship it out tomorrow.

Woohoo, looks like they did a great job!

Not to mention the fact that it will be a true and unique BUGeye with those antenna

Bummer! now you are going to have to spend some time shining up the rest of the car. ;)

Looks fantastic Rick! Can I ask what the final cost turned out to be? Their website quotes around $300, but it sounds like that's for a perfect example to start with?

Due to bad pitting and dents mine came to $375 including shipping back to me.
I should get it here by Thursday.
