Funny how some people think when you say you want to give something away. Some think your full of beans and some think your talking about a bucket of trash! You'd be surprised at some of the requests I've got. I said, it was all or none, but kept getting, Oh I'd like this or I'd like that. Are some people that dense, or have I been living in a cave somewhere for all my life. Well, here's what I gave away! I won't divulge who I gave it to unless he says it's ok, that's not my call! There's early radios, weber carb setup, su carbs, instruments, engines, etc, etc. About 2000 pounds of it! Why did I give it away? Well I was tired of tripping over it for the past 25 years and have no use for it anymore. PJ

well done! (what are you going to put in the space?)

Some people are dense or hear what they want to hear, some figure it doesn't hurt to ask you might get the answer you want. But I do like your idea, I have been trying to clean up supplies of stuff that have been growing and cluttering up the house and garage for about 30 years now, maybe I need to try a wholesale instead of piecemeal approach.

Not sure, there's already stuff there, it was just covered up with the MGB junk! I've uncovered stuff I haven't seen in years! Found my belt sander for one, I lost it 5 years ago! :highly_amused:

Now that's funny!

Oh wait - that's just like my garage...

And mine! Interestingly tonight was puttering/cleaning and found another box of Vauxhall parts I didn't know I had - I Swear I have enough seatbelts now to encircle the world!

I've been getting rid of stuff for the past year. Told the wife, if it hasn't been used in 5 years, it's history! Funny but, she agreed!! Been taking trailer loads to a local auction house, they get what they can and bring the wife a hand full of cash at the end of the day. Notice where the money goes! The auction house is run by a lady friend of the wifes, so I don't have a vote on distribution of funds. :highly_amused: It was getting pretty bad when you only have a 20 by 20 area in a 40 by 60 building! I can actually see the back wall now! :encouragement: PJ

Janet and I are in the processing of downsizing for the move to the Smokies and decluttering to put our house on the market. The neighborhood where our son and daughter-in-law live over in Hendersonville will be doing a quarterly yard sale the weekend of April 11, so all this junk is going over there. Took a load over yesterday - the back of my pickup and Janet's SUV were stuffed. More to go soon.

Anybody need a cumquat steamer?

How about my CUMQUATS?

No kumquat steamer needed ... but please put your rear garage with the car lift on a trailer. I'll be waiting :jester:

Congrats on freeing up the space!

There is a huge amount of value in stuff reduction. Our stuff does own us as much as we own it. When I built my little shop out back, I intentionally built it smaller (12'x20') than I could for just this reason; makes it much harder to store too much "in case I need it later." There are times when I wish I had done otherwise, but the reality is that I can live within the space restrictions just fine. If nothing else there will be less for my nieces to throw away when I'm gone.

some times a good cleaning is needed.

I have been going over a change of heart about keeping things, I used to keep everything and if you look in my garage and basement it shows. I have too much stuff. E-bay and craigslist have helped a little, and I have decided some stuff, if not used after 30 years, is not likely to ever be used. But I still have trouble just tossing it if it is serviceable and I know what it is for.

I did go through and throw away a box of parts for which I had no idea what they were for or what they fit (I can identify most common British stuff, but I picked up some mixed lot foreign stuff many years ago at an auction, some without part numbers). That is a start isn't it?

i cant toss aluminum foil pieces if i can reuse them. drives my wife nuts. I like the idea of being able to fit "everything" in a hatchback and relocating. This is the first time im trying to plant for a bit. Im a strong hoarder and a strong minimalist... drive myself nuts most the time to.
