Correct 1275 pan gasket installation

Hi all. My Haynes doesn't outline the correct way to install oil pan gaskets and corks. I've replaced them but I still have leaks. I've read on another forum - "The curved gasket (or seal) should protrude about 1/4" ( 6-7 mm ) on each end of the gasket, before the pan is placed in position. It is important to place some sealant on the ends of this gasket and also on the oil pan gasket in this area."

Would you agree with this statement?

Should the side paper gaskets be placed so they come up next to the corks or under the corks?

So in order to accomplish that, it would be correct to attach the paper side pieces to the block and the corks/rubber seals to the pan I assume.

If you use the Payen gaskets sets, they come with the rubber pieces , rather than the cork pieces, I try to only use Payen gasket sets.

The corks are "run wild" in length, and should not be installed as is. They should be trimmed to 1/8" proud of the sump flange once fully installed in the groove. Additionally, a dab of silicone should be added at each intersection of the block flange and main cap.
