I have parts for all my cars squirreled away here and there. I even have parts for cars I don't own anymore, heck I have parts for cars my dad owned before I was born.

At this point I think I'm overstocked, Keoke. I actually passed up a 928 Porsche (and it was cheap!) last week. I must be gettin' old. :smirk:

Ben: the beer fridge inna garage is sittin' on its anti-wobble MGB short block. No cheezy Yugo battery fer me. :cool-new:
 
Too late, Don. It went to a guy I'd met who said he has a 944 and a TR-6. It may even be possible that I'd actually get paid to wrench on it rather than "buy work" for myself. The thing was an automatic, had not been run in five years (in a non-climatized storage unit), flat and dry-rotted rubber, needed repaint and who knows what all for the running gear. Giant money-pit! By the time it was running reliably and in some semblance of looking correct, it'd be a break-even deal at best. Not my cuppa.

No truer words have you ever spoken! Those things go for cheap for a reason, from what I understand, EVERTHING on it is 928 specific. Too bad they didn't make a model that would float, otherwise it would qualify as a boat....
 
I was factory trained on Porsches. I have most of the 'specialty' tools to fix the beast. There's even a special metric Allen head socket tool for adjusting the valves. But as Billy noted, just about everything in there is proprietary to the 928. If the guy who bought it wants a tech, I'm available. :wink:

And all it really is, is a German Camaro. :devilgrin: :jester:
 
anyone need a rear brake drum for a ford windstar or was it the mazda mpv before that and those were before the Audi, rats I should just toss it.
 
Wow. After reading this thread I don't feel so bad that I haven't thrown any parts that I've replaced out yet, and I've only been an LBC owner for 6 months. I've got a huge collection of assorted nuts and bolts, among other parts.
 
I have a garage full of Ford Cortina parts (Just HOW many non-running-
generators do I really need).About the only parts I've gotten rid of are a pair of
non-GT Cortina struts.
You guessed it - about a month later,I got an email from a Friend,who knew
someone who'd pay a lot of money for them.
I've also taken in parts,because I stand to see them tossed out.Anyone need
a set of International NOS king pins for their bus? - I've got a set,+ wheel cylinders,
brake shoes......
On the other hand,I did take the Datsun B210 parts car to the wrecking yard,
after I stripped any usable parts off of it.
....... and there's always the old,unbuilt plastic car models in the closet.....

For years I kept every imaginable thing that I removed from the Healeys, to the point where there are some things sitting on my shelves that I don't even recognize:smile:. Then last summer I sold a Sprite and gave some of the parts to the new owner, which seems to have started a trend. I've been giving stuff away ever since, and have just about recovered most of the space in my garage! All that's left are 5 48 spoke BN4 wheels, a 948 with the gear box still attached and about 20 used spark plugs, which are going in the trash this week. Oh, and a sprite radiator, and a set of carbs which I'm keeping, and, oh the list goes on and on.... :smile:

In my last post concerning all the MGB stuff I have and want to get rid of, I will give all of it to whoever wants it but the spare 72 engine. The other engine is a 79. Bring a trailer, as it will not fit in a pickup. There's a lot of loose stuff also. Email me if interested. PJ

Yes, and those same parts are now cluttering my garage. :fat: Part of the reason we're considering moving someplace else is so I can have a bigger garage!
 
OH NOOOOOO!!!!!!! Maybe I'll keep a couple........
 
Egad. My plug collection dates back to 1968... if I show Mitsy that spark plug art mebbe the 'collection' could become useful.
