Count yourself blessed if you are able to drive your Healey year round...I was about to pull the cover off my BJ8 and awaken it from hibernation, But first wanted to fire up the snow blower to make a path for it outside...this was the result!

Looks like the bottom of your snowbloower's connecting rod headed towards Florida...

... I'll let you know if I see it!

Should have had a Healey motor on that snowblower
Time to break out the JB weld .. lol :encouragement:

. Well Randy, I'm right behind my connecting rod! I am now getting ready to put my home on the market early spring. In fact I have looked at homes online in Sarasota, Fort Lauderdale, Carson city Nevada, And Arizona. I have a had enough of this and moving has been on my mind for some time now. A few days ago it was minus 16 below zero! Last time I blew a connecting rod was in my 1969 427 corvette Tri-power...happened on the interstate at 75mph...It literately blew one of my side pipes off and I never found it! That's probably in Florida as well!

Well Arizona has it's advantages but: Healey does not like 16 degrees below zero and they do not like + 115 Degrees for three months out of the year either.:wink-new:

. Yes Keoke, your right! I kind of taken Arizona off my short list because of the brutal heat! I'm still roaming the map and most likely will begin touring places in Florida, Carson City NV. and surrounding areas, and who knows maybe even Utah! I'm literally all over the map at this point!

Well, we've learned a little bit about this area__we were doing some heavy scouting 2009/2010, pretty much decided by early part of '11 and broke ground before the end of the year (November 30?) and were moved in before the end of April 2012.

Ours is one of the very few subdivisions in the area that allow detached buildings, and unlike some, there's no size limit. The only stipulation is that it matches the design of the house, which suits us.

We sure don't regret our choice, especially while we were watching the news and weather last week!

As long as were talking about moving, I've always fancied the lower midwest where you do have seasonal changes but just not such radical temps. How about KY or TN? Nice drives all around, plenty of twisty roads and of course the Blue ridge mtns.

Thanks for the input! I have considered KY and TN...both beautiful states. Currently I am researching Carson City NV. And Sarasota FL. Let me be Clear, I am not moving from Illinois, I am Fleeing Illinois because of the Crazy high taxes! I love the outdoors as I am a long distance cyclist and Carson City has great Bike trails and very temperate weather Ideal for Driving the Healey over the mountains to California, Reno Lake Tahoe and other beautiful surrounding western states... Low Taxes are number one! And the state that agrees with my outdoor, culture needs, and is tax friendly will have my business and that is where I will call home. No place is perfect, but surviving my retirement years and living a healthy life style is important to me. And yes, I want to settle in to my new home and begin new projects, Restoring another Healey and a 63 E type, So a big Garage is a must! Minimum 3 to 4 car. I have already talked to a builder in Reno and Carson city. I can even build a out building as long as it matches the house, the same situation as Randy Forbes has In Sarasota FL. I am touring Carson City, Reno first this April...then off to Sarasota FL. Planned on doing a repaint and new top on the 67 BJ8 this summer....but it will have to wait!

Alabama has some of the lowest real estate taxes. Taxes on a $300k house is around $1200 for the year. I live on the water so when I am not playing with the cars I can get in a boat and go as far south as the gulf or go over to the MS river and up from there. Birmingham is a 2 hour drive. Nashville about the same.

Marv

Wow Marv, Those taxes are low! This searching for a new home is not easy these days...and some of these HOA's are down right scary... I know a friend who owns a very nice property in Lake Tahoe with a view facing the lake...however the loonies made everyone remove there windows facing the lake because the boaters did not like the reflections...My buddy is selling the property and moving on along with his substantial wealth. I wouldn't think my Healey would pass emissions there! But it is Green...British racing green! LOL

California does not require smog testing for cars older than 1968 MY (not sure about the year, but my '67 BJ8 does not have to be smogged). Dunno about the NV side. No mandatory inspections, either.
...

I know there are several "biker" clubs down here; a very good friend of mine rides with a group of cyclists (of the pedaling variety) that goes from Sarasota all the way up here to where I live. Alternatively, they ride over the Ringling Bridge and go the length of Longboat Key.

If you still want seasons, albeit much shorter winter ones, it was 40* this morning and only reaching a high of 65. Brrr!! ;) ;)

Look me up when you get down this way.

Well, we've learned a little bit about this area:

. Hello Randy, I am of the Pedaling variety as well. My Daley routine is 25 miles nonstop everyday through the local bike paths, However, I do enjoy long distance cycling when time permits. Right now I am training on a Kinetic bike simulator that is designed to make the rider balance the bike just as if your riding on the road. And the rear tire has contact with a aluminum roller that is designed to put adjustable pressure on the rear tire to simulate road contact pressure and resistance and lets me shift gears. It all works very well! Yes, I will give you a heads up when I make it to Sarasota and maybe we can have a cold beer and discuss the Sarasota area since you lived there and know the local pluses and minus's. I attached a photo of the bike simulator "my winter recreation" Now if they would make a Healey simulating a ride thru the mountains shifting gears It would make these winters More bearable.
