my bj7 came with leather straps for the hood. unfortunately the hood can raise up approximately 1 inch at speed. i am looking for the mechanism that attaches to the body and to the hood to keep the hood tightly closed. i dont need the pull mechanism as i will probably fabricatesomething for that. if you have something, my email is maxwedge5281@charter.net

Hi Try Healey Surgeons on the east coast

I'm not the expert but I have owned a BJ7 for a few decades. I haven't seen leather straps on a BJ7. I haven't driven mine in a very long while but I do recall that if the latch isn't lubed and aligned it may not latch correctly. It can pop up that one inch to the catches.

I have.:jester: (but I also have the factory latch)

But if you were going to use a leather strap without the factory latch, you'd probably want to go with the single strap at the front like the Sebring cars:

IMG_1423.jpgmy car is missing the latch post as well as the receiver. i have been able to find the receiver assembly on this forum and the latch post on ebay. i know it is a bit strange, but i am trying to replace or update missing or worn pieces with healey parts...new or good used... in spite of the fact that the car has a sbc roller motor and 200 r4 transmission.
