low/high temp engine running question

it has a stamping of "8156333 AC&E" and "STANDARD" on it which you can see in the attached pictures. I have also swapped out the thermostat and still have the same issues (at least the cold running since it will be a while we see warming temps here in Oregon for me to see if I will get 210F again...).

Looks like Spit 1500 housing. It would appear your car isn't plumbed correctly (if it still has the stock radiator). Depending on what year your car is it should look like this (scroll down) https://www.mgexp.com/phorum/read.php?42,2170731,page=1

The early Midget 1500 had problems overheating so they changed the plumbing up top to help. (if I understand correctly).
