fuel pumps AH 3000 BT

I have had it with the Lucas pump. Tic Tic Tic, then everynow and then the thing quits, and just like in the old days, I have to bang on the rear seat to make it work. Does anyone have a recommendation for a replacement pump, not Lucas. There are a number on the market but do not know which is the best. Thanks

I have a SU electronic one. Works fine. Many of the others put out too high a pressure.

Ditto. I think the electronic SU pumps work pretty well and they bolt up to the original mounting.

I am one that favors the SU fuel pump (with ticking) and has found them to be quite reliable and long lasting. However, it does require the occasional dressing of the tungsten points after periods of hibernation to eliminate oxidation. After dressing and setting the points, I also have found that the diaphragm may also require some adjustment to gain full performance. If you haven’t already gone to Dave DuBois’s web site (https://homepages.donobi.net/sufuelpumps/), I would recommend going there for the information he provides on this subject.

Although the electronic SU fuel pump has improved, when it is hit by a less-than-stable surge (not uncommon in the Healey and also induced by the pump coil), it dies and can not be revived. Keep the points-based pump and dress and readjust the points, reset the diaphragm, and enjoy the comforting tick. This task should only take an hour and a good points file.

Good luck,

Hey COJ,
I have a small round electronic fuel pump in my 100M that has been in there for over 10 years and continues to work great. Believe it is a Bendix brand but not really sure. Uses a pressure regulator to keep the gpm rate to an SU's liking. I have a Facet electronic to replace the older round one on standby. Know not original in appearance but sure does work well. Of course by stating the above I'm sure it will fail on me this weekend !
Regards,
Mike

For less than the price of a new SU pump, Dava Dubious will rebuild yours with solid state electronics and an optical trigger replacing the points. It still ticks like an SU should. He runs it for 24 hours continuous before he ships it. NFI but a very satisfied customer.

One option: https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/productdetails.asp?RecID=8674

A 74-Micron filter is built into the pump body.

I've been using a Huco (German) fuel pump for 21 years with no problem. sounds just like an SU.
