Not likely working on cars (or even driving -calling for rain) but, did get to spend a couple days doing this - with brother & brother in law

 
We usually go to the Lime Rock Vintage, but we skipped it this year (it's actually still on until tomorrow). I have another race in three weeks (at NJMP) and besides, there's been a bit of drama with the treatment of flaggers at the event, so a bunch of my friends were staying away anyway in support. So.....we took our gang to the Grounds For Sculpture, which is the old New Jersey Fairgrounds just outside Trenton. The Fairgrounds closed many years ago (including a USAC/Indy car track that was there) and has been taken over by a group lead by Seward Johnson. Mr. Johnson is a sculptor who inherited a large amount of money from his family business, Johnson & Johnson. Many of the sculptures he's created are whimsical and lifelike. Others are almost sci-fi. And some are just geometric modern art (many in the form of gigantic welded structures). At one point, you walk through a party of life size figures drinking and smoking. Mr. Johnson included himself in this party. Elsewhere, there's figurines of four guys playing cards and a man pushing a little kid on a bicycle. And hidden in the woods (unless you know where to look) is two young fellows chatting up a young woman on a blanket. The young woman has no clothes on. If you've ever seen the famous painting from Monet's Garden ("Bridge over a Pond of Water Lilies"), you'd realize they've built a perfect replica of that painting scene at the Grounds For Sculpture.
Anyway, a lot of it is quite funny but you have to be there to get the effect. Worth visiting if you're in NJ. Photos:

Spent my Sat and Sun refereeing at a Labor Day soccer tournament.... unfortunately, I had to dismiss a coach, and that's the last thing I want to do, but he had to go.
Tomorrow is a day off so everyone ENJOY it and be SAFE!
 
Showers and thunderstorms, interrupted by infrequent sunlight all three days. But a good time nevertheless.

It's a dead ringer Nial... I was on real bridge during a visit to Monet's Garden outside of Paris some years ago.
 
We're not going anywhere this year. Having the kids, their friends and their kids over and they all opted to have a Pizza party! That's a lot of pizza! :highly_amused: Sure saves me from cooking over the grill all day though, well, maybe not. The little ones have the whole farm to run around and play. Only problem is, when they all leave, the place seems dead, but the wonderful memories are priceless!:encouragement: PJ
