New fuel tank: steel vs aluminum?

I'm in the process of restoring a 59 TR-3A and am debating my options for the fuel tank. I have the original which was supposedly refurbished several years ago, but I'm reluctant to drop it in as is. If I decide to go with a new tank, the question then is... steel or aluminum. Any comments regarding the pros and cons of one over the other would be appreciated.
 
A few years ago I would have gone with aluminum, but ehtanol and aluminum do not like each other very well, so I think I would opt for steel.

I did not know that! I knew that the ethanol attracts water. That was my concern about the steel. Are the new steel tanks typically lined to fight the rust?
 
Some tanks are lined. but basically it is up to you to put additives in occasionally to help avoid the rust. Stabilizers for storage, etc. Think how long the last tank lasted, will you be here in 54 years?
