Well, what do you all think about this?

It does have some unique safety features for its size but I still don't think it's a match for an accident with a larger vehicle.
Here in PA, you MUST have a motorcycle license to drive it. I wonder how many people that don't have the motorcycle rating would be willing to get one?

A tail dragger? Hmmm, still pondering.

I could see that has a nice communing vehicle.

Well, being the liturgical sort that I am, I wouldn't want to commune in it.

I like it... though in a country full of SUVs and trucks, I'm skeptical about the 5 star crash rating potential (despite the "cocoon of airbags"). Looks fun.

I first heard about these in January when they announced the deal in Shreveport for the factory. A friend and I talked about it, and both decided to get on the list to buy one. We agreed that if it were available today as described we'd buy one, for the unique driving experience if nothing else. So we each went in at the $100 level, which in theory gets us the ability to buy one from the first year of production. Assuming there is a first year of production.

I looked at it as an entertainment expense -- for a modest cost I purchased a front row seat to watch a new car company be built... or to watch it fail. I want the idea to succeed, and I could afford to chip in a little to help it along. Will I actually buy one? Depends on a lot of factors, but I do think it's a neat idea and at the currently discussed price it could be a cheap bit of fun.

Lordy knows I've spent more money on stupider things, and so far it's been an entertaining ride.

I like the concept... somehow in the back of my mind I keep thinking of "Delorean"

Interesting, but I'm kinda partial to this! Comes with air conditioning also! :highly_amused: PJ

I'd love a Morgan three-wheeler, but the price (for new or old) puts it well out of my range. The proposed price of the Elio makes it interesting to me; if the price goes too much higher then the value proposition fails.

Much that could go wrong to derail the project, but the fact that the engineering is largely all off the shelf stuff makes it at least possible.
