Hi all, found a luggage rack for my Tr8,
1, Is it worth it to put on?
2, any thing i should worry about when mounting it?
Thanks tom

...1, Is it worth it to put on?...

That mostly depends on how you use (or hope to use) the car. We do 3 or 4 1000 trips each year in the TR3 & 4 and a luggage rack makes traveling much more enjoyable.

The luggage racks on those cars are no-drill mounts and easily removable when not in use so if what you have in mind involves drilling and more or less permanent mounting then aesthetics are also a concern.

The main reason I like luggage racks is that it is easy to mount a LED third brake lamp
to enhance the safety of LBC's . Luggage is rarely an issue, but it helps....

Whenever my luggage rack is not in use, I take some rubber washers my grandfather and I made and some shiny new bolts w/ nuts on them. Tighten er up and it looks sleek as can be. I don't know if Tr8 uses a different system for luggage racks though.

Back in the days when I only had one TR8, I had two trunk lids. One with a rack and one without. When the wife and I would take a weekend trip in the car or whenever it was needed, I would swap the non rack lid for the lid with the rack. That way I didn't have to look at that ugly rack when I didn't have to. I have three or four of those racks stacked up in a corner of my garage I'd let go pretty cheap. Wife no longer wants to go anywhere in a TR8. If you score a lid and a rack, you can have a local body shop paint the lid to match your car for a couple hundred or less.
