Someone responded to my "hard start" message by writing he owned a 1960 BT-7 as well and lived in northern Virginia. I could not open the the message. System blocked it. May i ask you to try again, please?

Thanks,

Bob

I owned a 1960 BN7 which is very similar to yours, what's your question? Has the hard starting been fixed?

Johnny:

I believe the solenoid, an integral component of the auxiliary enrichment carb, is not functioning. I have ordered a replacement solenoid, and have my fingers crossed that this will do the "trick."

That was me (Ed Chan). I mentioned just mentioned that I also have a 1960 BT7 and that I also live in Alexandria (Ft. Hunt area). I also mentioned that my friend's BJ8 has a hard time starting in the cold due to the choke cable not pulling the choke all the way up. If I manually pull the lever just a little more while she cranks the engine, the car starts up pretty easily. If the outside temperature is about 50 or more, it will start without having to manually pulling the choke lever.

In general, I can probably fix the problem by adjusting the where the set screw clamps on the choke cable but have not done so yet...

My car (BT7) did not have the soleniod choke system. I would suggest you talk to Bruce and Inan at Healey Surgeons if you want additional help. Their number is 301-270-8811 or you can e-mail directly at capitaldriving:atyahoo.com.

Bob, I also live near you and have a BT7. We should all get together.
