TR2/3/3A 1960 TR 3A Idle adjustment help

My engine now sarts and runs, yeah! Temp got to to about 185, oil pressure at about 60 and holding, but the tach was reading about 4000 rpm. How do I adjust the idle speed. I would like to run it in at about 1500 to 2000. How do I go about adjusting it?

Thanks, Tinkerman

There is an idle adjustment screw (sorry, no picture handy) on the side of each carb. It would be a good place to start. Undo the linkage between the carbs first. They are going to have to be balanced anyway, as part of your initial adjustments. There must be a thousand posts around here on how to adjust the SU carbs....

Dick,

Idle at 1500 to 2000 rpm seems rather high. Shouldn't it be between 700 and 1000 rpm?

The 1500 to 2000 would be for initial break-in of the camshaft.
