Bruce Weiner micro car collection auction results, lots of money!

Been following some of the goings on at the celebrated auction of the Bruce Weiner collection, it's all dispersed now but only after earning a grand total of $7.9 million over two days!

Here's the video of the Messerschmitt TG500 (Tiger) going through the auction, just watch the price, including the starting bid...

Apparently microcar collectors are getting worried about whether they can still afford to buy them anymore after this past weekend... :rolleye:

One more link I just found, with some interesting commentary... https://www.autoweek.com/article/20130216/CARNEWS/130219847

Not sure if it is significant or not. On the one hand, certain Microcar prices have been going up steadily - you aren't going to get much change from 25-30k for a well restored Isetta. On the other hand things like Bonds and Japanese cars remain relatively sane. Like Barrett-Jackson, we are talking about the best of the best cars and the deepest pocket buyers. IIRC, one buyer bought 20 cars! There were also a number of other cars that ended up in other museums. Yes, it might bump the price a bit (though if anyone remembers the Bugeye a few years ago that Team Sprite restored went for 27k? - and nothing else changed market wise), more likely what it will do is convince a few more people that the POC in their garage is worth something and therefore they won't sell. In other words, it's not the top that will change but the bottom.

Oh, they'll sel,l but they will believe their unrestored cars are worth 80% of what the top tier cars go for.
