TR2/3/3A Kuhmo 165/80-15 tires will NOT fit in spare boot for post TS60000 TR3A.

In Northern New England, a tire is not considered worth the money unless we can get 30 years out of it.

Which is apparently what the PO of my recent acquisition had in mind. I had actually taken several high-speed twisty test drives as I sorted out the brakes, suspension, cooling etc -- then happened to park with this bit of tread in a spot where I could get a good look at it:

The fact that it had an inner tube may have been what saved me. New tires on as of this week.

Ouch, what's the date code on those tires?

Scott

They date from either 1997 or 1987 -- back then the date code did not specify what decade. They do have plenty of tread, in fact they look like new tires (apart from the fact that they are falling apart).

I did look at the tires and thought them okay for test drives but didn't see the severe damage as it only appears in a short section of tread -- possibly the section that was on the ground for the past 16 or 26 years (the car had been off the road for a long time).
