A friend of mine just sent me this link. I've never seen it before, but it's a great use of a Healey in a commercial. Apologies if I missed a previous posting of this.

I like yours better Dougie. The guy in the one I posted just doesn't look like a Healey driver.

I wonder how many of these they made with Healeys?

The actor in the commercial was one of the bad guys in the movie "Avatar". Based on the tank badge, looks like he pulled in on a Triumph 650 from around 1960 (as in Marlon Brando's "The Wild Ones"). And into the early Healey. So what's old is new again. As I keep reminding my younger wife....

Let's just say she looks better in the Healey than he does. And, I think those Jodhpurs look just fine on her. :wink-new:

"A while ago while I was at “Cars & coffee” in Irvine I met
up with Tim Cadiente looking for a Healey to use in a
photo shoot. Tim is the owner of the Barton Perreira
fashion sunglass line. It was about 8:00 AM and the
event was breaking up, rain was threatening and Mike
Scroggie heard from Kathy that it was raining pretty
heavily in Laguna Niguel. The shoot was taking place in
Long Beach at 10:00 AM. I needed to stop at my office
and get home first so I told Tim I would call from home
to confirm. My normal route home is via Santiago
Canyon Road and as soon as I hit the canyon the rain
began to fall…a real heavy rain. My windscreen was down,
and as the heavy rain began to plaster my face (it really
hurt) I thought of how John Nikas must have felt on his
recent cross country journey through real rain torrents.
When I reached my driveway the heavy rain turned to
good sized hail stones as I pulled into my garage. I then
called Tim to let him know that I would not be coming…
he replied that the sun was shining in Long Beach and
the storm was moving quickly. I waited about 30 minutes
until I saw the sun, then on to Long Beach to a storage
area for shipping containers.
When I got to the site the crew was setting up four
shipping containers and outfitting them so as to appear
that someone was living in the units. The crew gathered
around my Healey and I was introduced to Giovanni Ribisi
who was being featured, promoting sunglasses of his
design. Giovanni has appeared in many film and TV
programs including The Run Diaries, Gone in 60 Seconds,
Saving Private Ryan, Avatar, Friends and Married with
Children. The “upstairs units” were the living quarters and
below was the garage housing several Triumph bikes with
my car featured along side. The shoot took about 4-5
hours and the result was a short video, some postcards and
a booklet used to promote the Sunglass line.
I was pleasantly surprised to hear from Tim again two
weeks ago asking if I could locate a Healey with a hard top
for use in a shoot at a nearby airport. I immediately
thought of Mike Newsome’s 100-6 which fit the bill
perfectly. I headed out early with Mike’s car to the small
Flabob airport in Riverside, reporting at 6:30 AM as
directed. Only problem was that no one was there,
however people at the airport had heard that a hot air
balloon was coming soon? I waited around for a while,
calling Tim and he assured me that the shoot was on…
problem was that he was at the Chino Airport. I was able
to shoot nice pix with the Wright Brothers “Flyer” as
background before heading to Chino. As I arrived they
were inflating the Hot Air Balloon and John Nikas was
able to join me. This shoot took most of the day with
segments being shot with two local actresses in various
locations around the airport. Video and hard copy are now
in production."
 
Very interesting synopsis from Healey Rick (thanks for posting) on how the video was made, and talk about the "7 degrees of Kevin Bacon" - or in this case Mike Newsome. I bought Mike's old 100-4 gas tank on eBay from his wrecked Healey several years ago on eBay, and had it shipped up here to the Great White North. Still sitting in the garage if anyone wants it. Small world. Mike is a great guy - happy to see he's still Healeying.
