I recently acquired a Hot Wheels Video Racer which I was able to attach to a slow slot car chassis to start experiment with videos of my layout. This was the second attempt to date. I want to try adding headlights to the chassis for future night runs, and try to get the lens lower when I can get it set up to be pushed around the track instead of riding atop another slot car. I hope you enjoy...

Goodness, where can I get that kind of patience to do something like that? How long did that take you? I couldn't put that together if it all came in a box and snapped together!
 
Awesome! I think I spied some vintage Matchbox Grand Prix racers???

I have been working at it off and on since 2002, and it was a lot of trial and error, just making stuff up as I go.

Dave - that is the BEST way of doing just about anything. Lots of trial and error, making it up as I go - the story of my life.

Very, very cool Dave. If I ever get the landscaping done on on my HO train layout, I hope to share a video with you too. I've just recently been back to working on it again. New buildings, and rearranging the town to fill in a lot of empty space. I'm also relaxing my drive for absolute realism. I'll never get anything done that way.
 
Thanks Tom...it is more fun to make a mountain out of carpet padding, then make the next one out of expanding foam insulation in a can than to follow directions.

Banjo...realism is greatly overrated in this hobby...I remember many Christmas layouts as a kid when the dog in the front yard of Plasticville would not fit through a garage door.

BTW, The Hot Wheels Video Racer was down to $18 today at Target on the clearance shelve. They came out at $60 a year or two ago.
 
The powers that be gave up on the realism thing... The layout set in the 1950's started having SD50's and GP38's wander in. Now you can find trains with everything from little 4-4-0 steam to my SD80MAC diesel. Recently converted the not-really-operable overhead powered trolley line to a small steam and diesel operated line. Now if only a few of the bridges would clear double-stacks...
