well for those of you who helped with my posts "slow turning" or the recent "Cardiac" post
well we have striped down the engine and the pistons are burnt very burnt so time for a bore out
and full rebuild.

Well, now you know... :nightmare:

Bummer it's that messy in there, and good luck with the rebuild. Let us know how it goes.

Burned?? Any idea what caused that???

Kurt.

any suggestions on what cam shaft to buy? hot road cam?

That looks like a top compression ring land failure, not that uncommon, maybe the biggest reason to never reuse old std. piston.

yes we are going to bore it out a bit and fit new pistons, and rings and most everything.
Ive ordered ever part but the cam shaft most of the hot ones are for the Aplus engine.

Try the 276 grind, you can get it from Piper, Kent, or Mini Spares on your side of the pond, I used this cam quite often in 1275 street builds, nice cam, good performance, not too radical for the street. Check with Mini Spares they ought to have a good price on it as well, I would opt for a new cam, over a regrind, unless you can confirm it has been rehardened. I also recommend their ligtened lifters, they about 55-57 Rockwell C rated, which is the perfect hardness range. Hope this helps

Steve, all the A+ deal means is you switch to slot drive oil pump, where your Midget originally came with a star drive oil pump, the conversion to slot drive oil pump is a direct bolt in, I do this all the time with 1275 builds for the same reason.
